First Week Of School – And A Free Printable!

first day of kindergarten 2017

♥Well, we made it! First week of Kindergarten, check!

I can’t lie, tears flowed a few times this week. No, not from my first born girl setting off on her first adventure to Kindergarten. Just mom, and I am pretty sure dad too.

Aside from a few bus details, things went very smoothly. Who ever knew the bus was such a big event! Anyone else have a tough time with their kids riding the bus? Audrey hopped right on and walked to the back of the bus the first day of school. Immediately I said to my husband, “whoa whoa whoa, she just went all the way to the back”! He started to laugh, but I had a flash forward visual of her in High School. Needless to say I am REALLY glad we are only starting Kindergarten.

After School Drama

So far I think we have been lucky on the after school behavior. I have been prepped to expect the devil to come out at night, but I haven’t seen it, yet. School aged kids are at their best all day for their teachers, new friends, and new environment, so when they come home their behavior can be can unpredictable (or crazy) as the day winds down. Aside from a few “you don’t even care” moments (where did THAT come from?), it has been pretty good!

I still miss my buddy every day. I hear by the third you will be booting them off to the bus, but for now I am happy I have two more school years until the second one goes to Kindergarten.

Time to get to work on the house. We are putting our house up for sale very soon so my To-Do list is 1,000 miles long. First I want to share a free printable for you guys!

I made this First Week of School Interview after I missed the boot on the first day of __________(grade) chalkboard picture like those you see all over Pinterest.

Speaking of First Pictures, Cut Yourself Some Slack

Side note – don’t get yourself down if you miss something others do, find a new way! I wanted maternity pictures with all three of my kids, but I never got around to it. I wanted family pictures when my third was still a baby, but holy CRAP was I way too busy!

The first day of school I missed my daughter getting off the bus at the school because I got stuck in traffic and couldn’t find a place to park. I cried a little, then got over it. My husband walked her back to her classroom without me because he thought I left (I drove around trying to find a parking spot). I cried a little more, gave him the death glare, then got over it.

We can’t do EVERYTHING, and let me tell you as a working mom with three babies, the very best thing you can do for yourself is cut yourself a break. Make your own pictures and memorable moments, like this printable!

Feel free to share, but please link back to me.

This is a printable you could use for all of your kids and save throughout the years. It will be fun to see how their answers change as they get older. I hope you enjoy!
